How It Works

How Grade Calculation Works

Our grade calculator supports three different calculation methods to match various grading systems used in schools and colleges.

Weighted Grade

Each assignment has a specific weight percentage. Final grade is calculated based on weighted average.

Grade = ÎŁ(Score Ă— Weight) / ÎŁ(Weight)

Simple Average

All assignments have equal weight. Final grade is the arithmetic mean of all scores.

Grade = ÎŁ(Scores) / Number of Assignments

Final Exam

Calculate what score you need on your final exam to achieve your target grade.

Needed = (Target - CurrentĂ—Weight) / Final Weight

Examples

Grade Calculation Examples

High School Example

Homework (20%): 85/100 = 85%

Quizzes (30%): 78/100 = 78%

Midterm (25%): 92/100 = 92%

Final (25%): 88/100 = 88%

Weighted Grade: (85Ă—0.2 + 78Ă—0.3 + 92Ă—0.25 + 88Ă—0.25)

Final Grade: 85.1% (B)

College Example

Assignments (40%): 90/100 = 90%

Midterm (30%): 85/100 = 85%

Final Project (30%): 95/100 = 95%

Weighted Grade: (90Ă—0.4 + 85Ă—0.3 + 95Ă—0.3)

Final Grade: 90.5% (A-)

Final Exam Planning

Current Grade: 82%

Current Weight: 70%

Final Exam Weight: 30%
