How It Works
BMI (Body Mass Index) is calculated using the following formulas:
Metric: BMI = weight(kg) / height(m)²
Imperial: BMI = (weight(lbs) × 703) / height(in)²
BMI is a screening tool used to identify possible weight problems in adults. However, BMI is not a diagnostic tool and should be used alongside other health assessments.
Examples
Example 1: Normal BMI

BMI: 22.5 (Normal weight)
Example 2: Overweight BMI

Weight: 85 kg (187 lbs)
BMI: 27.8 (Overweight)
