Convert between Kelvin and Fahrenheit in either direction.
How it works
Since 0°C equals exactly 273.15 K, and Fahrenheit’s relationship to Celsius has been fixed by international agreement since 1954, °F = (K – 273.15) × 9/5 + 32. 300 K converts to about 80.3°F.
What this does not include
This is a dedicated page for the specific Kelvin-to-Fahrenheit pair. This site’s full temperature converter covers Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin together in one place if you need to move between all three.
How to use this calculator
- Enter a value in Kelvin or Fahrenheit.
- The other field updates automatically.
Why is 0 K called “absolute zero”?
It’s the theoretical point where particles have the minimum possible thermal motion — unlike Celsius or Fahrenheit, whose zero points are arbitrary reference points, Kelvin’s zero represents a genuine physical floor.
Can Kelvin ever be negative?
No — since 0 K is the lowest physically possible temperature, negative Kelvin values don’t occur in ordinary physics.
Where is Kelvin commonly used instead of Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Scientific work, especially in physics, chemistry and astronomy, favors Kelvin because its zero point has real physical meaning, making ratios of temperatures (like “twice as hot”) meaningful in a way they aren’t on the other two scales.
